David S. Alkek, M.D.is a Clinical Professor, Dermatology Department, at Southwestern Medical Center where he actively teaches dermatologic surgery. He is on the editorial board of “Vitality” magazine and regularly appears on radio, TV, and in national magazines as an expert in his field. Dr. Alkek was voted “# 1 Cosmetic Surgeon in Dallas” by the Dallas Business Journal. William F. Cothern, D.O., is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas in 1975 and his graduate degree in Neurophysiology Research from the University of North Texas in 1977. He was awarded his medical degree in 1981 from the University of North Texas Health Science Center/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth. In 1993, Dr. Cothern founded the Dermatology and Laser Center of Fort Worth.

I am often asked why I pursued a career in Plastic Surgery. For me, the answer is easy. From early childhood on, I have been very active in both art and science. Drawing, painting, and sculpting have been very important parts of my life throughout the years. early schooling stimulated my interest in the science of anatomy physiology, and chemistry. These two compelling passions in my life actually complemented one another, leading eventually to medicine as a career choice, with Plastic Surgery as the obvious goal.

Dallas plastic surgeon Dr. White is one of the few plastic surgeons in the United States certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery. He dedicated 8 years to residency training (after medical school) in order to be fully trained in both specialties. Dr. White received his training in Otolaryngology (ENT or Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery) at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
