Throw away those big bulky glasses and improve your looks, then Lasik eye surgery might be the way to go. Not only will you look more flattering with the absence of glasses, but you will be able to improve your vision. Having Lasik eye surgery is not a good option for everyone, and most people should consult their doctor before making the decision to go through with the procedure. If decided that you are a good candidate, then get recommended to a reputable surgeon. Don’t be afraid to ask other patients what they thought about Lasik eye surgery and their doctor who performed the procedure.

The pricing to get this procedure done is based on a ‘per eye’ basis. If you are getting the procedure done by a reputable doctor, be prepared to pay anywhere from $1000-$1500 per eye. Make sure your information is together if you are getting both eyes done at the same time.

Lasik and other eye surgery are quick and painless and correct most eye diagnosis such as astigmatism, farsightedness and nearsightedness. Sine this procedure is considered an ‘out patient’ procedure, then you might have to wait a couple of hours later to make sure everything is fine. In the beginning of the surgery, eye drops will be given to numb the entire area. This way, you will not feel anything when the surgery is taking place. Then, the laser will be used. A portion of the cornea will be removed and reshaped. This creates better vision. You will then have to wait two hours after the surgery in the office to make sure the flap is having the right healing process. You will then be allowed to go home, but must sleep with ‘goggles’. This will protect your eye from scratching, rubbing or damage to the cornea while it is in the healing process. You will also have to follow up with the doctor on a set schedule of appointments to make sure everything is going fine.

It is common for patients to experience seeing halos, ghosting, double vision, stars and other abstractions which usually clear up after a few days. In some extreme cases, this can last up to two months, but it is not common.

There is no long-term information that states whether Lasik eye surgery is permanent. Some believe the condition will diminish as the patient ages and/or return to its “normal” state.
