Spas differ in their spa treatments but some classics are common in all spas. The most common spa treatments are massage, facials, and body wraps.

As mentioned the most popular spa service or treatment is the massage. Most people think of a massage when they think of a spa. In the area of massage there are different types of massages. Most think of a massage as a type of pampering but the health benefits abound when massage is a part of your health routine. The types of massage are but not limited to deep tissue massage, hot stone massage, sports massage, and aromatherapy massage. A deep tissue massage is just as it sounds, the masseuse will massage you to relieve tension and stress. The hot stone massage is one in which hot stones are held by the masseuse until they cool then they are switched with a hot one. Sometimes they will leave the stones in certain points on your spine. The heat is deeply relaxing and helps relax your muscles. A sports massage was originally and practically used for athletes or anyone with chronic pain. The muscles are massaged to increase range of motion and release knots. Aromatherapy massages are rapidly gaining popularity in spas around the country. The use of oils from natural plants causes a change in mood and can help you relax.

Facials involve a few steps like cleaning, analysis, exfoliation, facial massage, and the removal of blackheads. Cleaning is self explanatory, analysis is where the spa will look at your skin with a magnifying lamp, exfoliation is just the removal of dead skin from your skin, and the massage will relax you while stimulating facial muscles, the removal of black heads is optional depending on your skin type and pain tolerance. A person should get a facial treatment once a month or at least four times a year.

A body wrap was originally used a treatment where plastic wrap was placed around the body to cause weight loss. Today the body wrap is a treatment where you’re covered in seaweed, mud, clay, lotion, or cream then you’re wrapped for twenty minutes. Afterward you’re rinsed off and have a lotion applied to your body. The benefits of a body wrap are a detoxification by removal of toxins. This only applies to the use of seaweed, algae, mud or clay. A body wrap, that uses lotions are soft skin treatments or skin hydration.

Most spas have a service like a nail salon for fingers and toes. You can receive a manicure or a pedicure at the spa.
